Washington Research Associates Inc. was founded 11 years ago by Warren Ryan, who started the company in downtown Washington DC. Warren's basic idea was simple: find information for individuals and companies; whatever they need, find it. It could be competitive intelligence or market research for a business, background information for companies or individuals, or asset information for law firms. Several years ago, Washington Research Associates narrowed its focus, and now specializes in investigative research, with emphasis on background checks, people search, and asset investigations. Its clientele consists primarily of law firms, small to medium-sized business firms, and individuals. The company now has over 50 associates throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Warren holds a Master's in economics from Ohio State University and has had over ten years experience as a senior economist and statistician with the federal government, as a college teacher, and as a consultant to industry.
